A One-Day Cushion-Making Experience That Packs a Creative Punch
Spend the day creating something you’ll be proud to show off – your very own round tuffet cushion!
Whether you’re a confident beginner or a seasoned sewist, this hands-on, beginner-friendly workshop will guide you through every step of making a bold, quilted footstool that’s both functional and beautiful.
Here’s the best part: buying a beautifully made tuffet footstool in a store would easily cost much more than this experience. But now, you’ll not only own one – you’ll have made it yourself, by hand, with fabric you chose and new skills you’ve learned. That’s something no shop-bought cushion can match.
Your Instructor: Marinda de Wet
Marinda have been teaching quilting techniques for years. She owns Country Quilting in Villiersdorp and is a warm and talented teacher and has a passion for colour, design and uplifting creativity.
Known for her motto, “A creative mind is a happy mind,” Marinda brings energy, encouragement and a practical teaching style that makes every workshop a joy to attend.
You’ll leave not just with a stunning tuffet, but with new confidence in your own abilities.
What to Expect
The entire tuffet will be completed in one day. During the workshop, you’ll stitch the full cover and prepare the centre button. With your help, your instructor will assemble the rest of the tuffet base in class. The final step – attaching the legs – will be done at home, or you can have it done for you.
Never Sewn Before?
Beginner sewists, this is your moment: the Daisy Skirt is surprisingly simple to make, yet packed with techniques that build confidence – facing, darts, side seams, waistband finishes and a neat button placket. You’ll walk away not just with a beautiful garment, but with real sewing skills under your belt.

What do I need to bring to class?
REQUIRED
- Your sewing machine
- Your sewing accessories
- Roller cutter
- Cutting board
- Long straight ruler 6×24″ or 6 x 12″.
- Matching sewing thread
FABRIC
- Your own fabric. A Whatsapp group will be created where detail pertaining to colours and measurements will be discussed.
Where to Buy Items
- All haberdashery, fabric and sewing items can be purchased from us – at the latest a day before we start.
- Fabric can be obtained from us, Factory Shop in town, Fabric Centre in Somerset-West, Quilting Country in Villiersdorp.
Is there a kit?
Unfortunately a kit is not available for this course.
Can I use quilting fabric strips?
Using simple strip-piecing techniques, you’ll sew the full cover in class. You’re welcome to use quilting fabric scraps, but for best results, we recommend purchasing fabric specifically for your tuffet – something that reflects your personal style and colour palette. Fabric tips and prep guidelines will be shared before the workshop so you arrive ready and inspired.
How do I book?

Here’s how it works, step by step:
Step 1: Choose Your Tickets
- Look for the section labelled “Tickets” (as shown in the first image).
- Click the plus (+) icon to select how many tickets you’d like to buy. Booking for a friend? Simply increase the number!
- Once you’ve selected the quantity, click the “Get Tickets” button.
Step 2: Enter Attendee Details
- You’ll be taken to the Tickets page.
- For each ticket, complete the attendee’s details.
- This allows you to book seats for yourself and any friends you’re bringing along.
Step 3: Checkout & Payment
- After entering attendee details, click “Checkout Now.”
- You’ll be prompted to enter the payee’s information (the person making payment).
- The final step will direct you to the secure iKhokha payment page, where you can pay online using your preferred method.
That’s it! You’ll receive an email with your ticket shortly after.
