Every sewist knows the frustration of a buttonhole that puckers, stretches, or lands just slightly off-centre. In this focused, hands-on workshop, we’ll take the mystery out of buttonholes and show you how to sew them neatly, confidently and consistently – no matter your machine type.
Whether you own a mechanical model or a modern electronic machine, you’ll learn how to get flawless results every time.
Bring your own machine and join a small, friendly group of eight fellow sewists. Together we’ll explore how to set up for different fabric types, mark accurately, stabilise the fabric, and use both automatic and 4-step buttonhole settings. You’ll test techniques on provided fabric swatches and walk away with a set of beautifully sewn samples you can reference for future projects.
You’ll discover what causes uneven stitching, how to prevent fraying, and how to open buttonholes cleanly without damaging your fabric. Along the way, you’ll pick up time-saving tips and tricks shared by experienced sewists — the kind of know-how that only comes from practice.
Confident beginners to advanced sewists wanting better garment finishes.
Not at all! We’ll cover both electronic and mechanical models – every participant will learn techniques suited to their machine.
