The Spicy Spiral Table Runner is bold, eye-catching and looks far more complex than it really is. That’s exactly why this workshop is such a rewarding experience: you’ll learn smart techniques that transform simple fabric choices into something spectacular.
From Fabric to Spiral
Over two half-day workshop days, you’ll take eight fat quarters – arranged from dark to light – and turn them into a flowing spiral design that will bring movement and energy to any table. Using a wedge ruler, you’ll cut and piece with precision, then discover the power of chain piecing to speed up your sewing without losing accuracy.
Structure Meets Creativity
What makes this project so exciting is that it blends structure with creativity. You’ll follow a step-by-step process, but your choice of fabrics and colors ensures no two spirals are ever the same. It’s a chance to see how value and contrast work together, while building confidence with piecing and quilting skills you can carry into other projects.
Bringing It All Together
By the end, you’ll layer your work with batting and backing, quilt in a spiral to enhance the movement, and bind it into a finished runner that looks like it came from a gallery. FAQ
What do I need to bring to class?
- Your sewing machine (cleaned and oiled)
- Basic sewing kit: pins, markers, scissors, etc.
- ¼″ foot
- Quilting thread
- 8 fat quarters (different colors arranged from dark to light)
- 9° wedge ruler (25″ length)

- A quilting kit (pins, markers, scissors, etc.)

Will there be a kit available?
No, kits will not be provided. Please bring your own fabrics and tools.
What exactly will I learn?
- How to arrange fabrics by value (dark to light)
- Cutting and preparing wedge pieces
- Creating identical layers for precision
- Chain piecing for efficient assembly
- Spiral quilting and finishing techniques
Will I finish the project during the workshop?
Yes. With the structured approach, you’ll complete your table runner – including piecing, quilting, and binding – within the two sessions.

Step 2: Enter Attendee Details
- You’ll be taken to the Tickets page.
- For each ticket, complete the attendee’s details.
- This allows you to book seats for yourself and any friends you’re bringing along.
Step 3: Checkout & Payment
- After entering attendee details, click “Checkout Now.”
- You’ll be prompted to enter the payee’s information (the person making payment).
- Should you opt to pay via card online, the final step will direct you to the secure iKhokha payment page, where you can pay online using your preferred method.
That’s it! You’ll receive an email with your ticket shortly after.
