The ratty old set that’s seen better days. The ones that never quite fit right – waistband that digs in, legs that are always either too short or too long, fabric that started pilling after the third wash. You bought them because they were there, they were fine, they’d do.
And every Winter you think: I really should find something better.
The trouble is, “better” in the shops means cheap cotton prints that feel scratchy against your skin, polyester blends that feel like wrapping yourself in plastic, or – if you’re lucky – something overpriced that fits on the size guide and nowhere else. Nothing is quite made for you. Because it isn’t.
Here’s the thing: the pyjamas that feel like a dream – soft, roomy in the right places, fitted where you want them, in a fabric you’d actually choose – aren’t found on a shelf. They’re made. To your measurements. In flannel you love. Finished properly.
And with Winter settling in, right now is exactly the right time to make them.
Over three Tuesday mornings — 5, 12 and 19 May, from 9:00 to 12:00 – you’ll do exactly that. Top and bottom, in fabric you chose, fitted to your body, finished neatly. Go with long sleeves and warm flannel pants for the coldest nights, or a lighter short-sleeve set for the milder evenings – the pattern works beautifully either way. And once you’ve made it once, you’ll know how to make it again and again.

This workshop sits in the Speciality Module of our Make & Wear Masterclass Series – which means if you’ve been following along since the Foundation Module, you’ve arrived somewhere exciting. The foundations are in place. Now we get to branch out into focused garment types that deepen specific skills – and pyjamas are a wonderful place to start that next chapter.
If you’re new to the series, that’s fine too. As long as you’ve completed one Foundation Module – or been assessed by our masterclass instructor – you’re very welcome to join!
Not sure where you stand? Just get in touch and we’ll help you figure it out.
Session 1 — Tuesday, 5 May: No machine needed today. This session is about getting your pattern traced and your pieces cut – the quiet, satisfying groundwork that makes everything else go smoothly. Come with your fabric, tracing paper, sewing kit, a pen and a notebook. Leave with everything prepped and ready.
Sessions 2 & 3 — Tuesday, 12 & 19 May: Now you sew. These two mornings are where the fabric becomes something real – seams matched, finishes done neatly, a set of pyjamas that looks and feels like it was made for you. Because it was.
Between sessions, there’s homework. It’s an important part of the process – please make time for it. Students who arrive prepared make the most of the time together and the difference in the finished result really shows.
Three Tuesday mornings in May. Real skills. Good company. And your own handmade pyjamas – ready and waiting when Winter arrives!
