Embark on a creative journey that will introduce you to the timeless craft of quilting!
Join us for a 6-week course where you will discover the basics of quilting, and gain hands-on experience with your sewing machine & quilting tools.
Whether you’re looking to learn the basics, or develop existing skills, our courses allow you to express yourself, experiment and really push your own creative boundaries. Imagine yourself in a structured, yet relaxed environment where you can learn the fundamentals of quilting!
Cost
The cost for the 6-week course, plus information session is R2,180 per person. Should you prefer, you can also do individual models as an individual class at R450 per hour.
The Itinerary
We start with a 2-hour information session on Thursday, 16 October at 14:00, followed by a weekly 3-hour morning class (from 09:00 – 12:00) every Thursday stretching over 6 weeks, up to the last class on Thursday,4 December
Course Delivery
- During the information session, we’ll cover the basics of fabric types and tools, setting the foundation for 6 projects you’ll be making over the following 6 weeks.
- Subsequent classes will cover cutting techniques, piecing patterns, and assembling your quilt top from the 6 projects you made.
- As we progress, you’ll learn about quilting sandwiches, basting, and finally, finishing touches like binding and stitching.
By the end of the course,
you will be the proud owner
of your very own quilt!
Throughout the course, you will be provided and work through a written and illustrated course handbook which includes every technique covered during the course.
Your course instructor is Hester Engelbrecht who has over 40 years experience in patchwork and quilting.
Starter Kit (Optional)
For beginners who don’t have all the quilting tools yet, we have a quilting starter kit available. These tools are a REQUIREMENT for this course. The quilting starter kit contains the following:
- A3 cutting board
- Rotary cutter
- Small quilting ruler (1×12”)
- Square 6.6×6.5” patchwork ruler
- Quilting pins
- Small binding clips
The kit is available from us at a special rate of R475 incl VAT (20% discount from normal price). Individual items, as well as quilting fabric, sewing machines, and feet can also be purchased from us.

Though not a requirement, for ease of work, the following quilting tools are recommended:

Do you have a quilting kit I can buy?
For this workshop, unfortunately no kit is available. However, all items are available at our shop.
I'm confused; under details it mentions that the workshop is free, but in the description, it cost R2,180?

I reserved a seat and can't make it. What must I do?
We understand that unexpected things happen, and sometimes you might not be able to attend a course or workshop you’ve booked. However, due to the demands of our busy shop, we’ve had to implement clear policies to keep things running smoothly! 
First and foremost: If you can’t attend a workshop, please WhatsApp us at 072 987 2512 or call 021 773 0145. This allows us to offer the spot to someone on the waiting list.
In addition, here’s what to know if you can’t attend a course or workshop:
- No Rescheduling: We’re unable to offer individual classes or move your payment to another course or workshop.
- Refund Policy: You can receive a 50% refund if you cancel more than 48 hours before the workshop starts. Unfortunately, cancellations made 48 hours or less before the workshop will result in forfeiture of the payment.
